Variable Frequency Welders

In today’s ever-changing market conditions, tube and pipe producers the world over search for new opportunities to grow their market share by manufacturing a greater range of quality welded tube for their customers.
Such diversification can create real opportunity for increased profits.

To offer producers this challenge, Thermatool pioneered the concept of the selectable Variable Frequency (VF) Welder, particularly suitable for the precision welding of small diameter tubes in addition to those with difficult d/t (diameter to thickness) ratios and also tubing formed from galvanised steel.

Two different frequency bands (180kHz – 300kHz) and (250kHz – 400kHz) are available. Once the mill operator has selected the “optimum” weld frequency (at the console) for a specific material such as 300 series (austenitic) or 400 series (ferritic) stainless steel, the weld frequency is held stable by Thermatool’s patented AutoMatch impedance matching system. 

In summary, selectable Variable Frequency offers the producer an ability to produce tube and pipe from several different materials, all on the same mill, wherever possible using existing weld rolls and the same basic mill set-up.
